QR codes can be very convenient when provisioning Android tablets to a Mobile Device Manager (MDM) like Esper, Manageengine, Intune, Meraki and others, but they can be equally frustrating to use as well.
If you are struggling to get a QR code scanned using one of our Geekland POE Android tablets, here are some tips for consideration.
-If your camera is less than 5 megapixels, see if the MDM has an option for a Low Resolution Code. These look less complicated and are easier for low resolution cameras to detect.
-A printed QR code works better than using a picture from your phone.
-Make sure there are no bright lights (spot lights, fluorescent lights) shining into the camera.
-Most of our tablets ship with a protective film covering the display and camera hole. Peel back the film to expose the camera.
If you plan to use your phone to display the QR code, consider these additional tips
-take a picture of the code from about 8-10 inches from the screen that’s displaying it.
-make sure the picture is clear and focused
-stretch the QR code to cover the display area of your phone
-when ready, start about 2 feet away from your tablet and slowly move closer to the camera
-tilt the phone up and down slightly to remove any shine or reflection from the QR code
